  • Tis the season give thanks, celebrate the year and give back to the industry. ACEC Virginia has multiple events coming up, promising something for everyone!

    Looking for PDHs?

    Need a General Assembly Update?

Join us on Tuesday, December 8 at Noon for a Legislative Preview Webinar: What will Impact the Engineering Community. Patrick Cushing of Williams Mullen will review proposed changes to the Virginia Public Procurement Act that have the potential to impact the engineering profession and engineering companies. Patrick will also cover other key issues expected to arise during the 2016 legislative session and how the elections and political climate will shape the coming session.

Ready to share the joy of the season?

Register for ACEC Virginia's Annual Holiday Party at Salisbury Country Club on December 8th from 7 - 9 P.M. Good friends, good food, good drinks! What more could you want?

Can You Help Us Reach Our ACEC/PAC Goal?

You heard correct, ACEC will reach $1 million in its war chest, supporting federal candidates on a bipartisan basis who support the engineering industry's agenda in Congress. These funds help influence and protect our industry on key issues, including QBS erosion, transportation funding, Design Build/Procurement Reforms, and tax reform/job creation. We have less than $3,500 to reach the VA portion of this goal. There are three ways you can contribute:

    1. Purchase a ticket in the Fall Raffle sponsored by ACEC Virginia to win one of three overnight stays. Tickets are only $50 each AND you can pick which hotel you want a chance to win! Odds of winning are high, we have less then 50 tickets purchased! Deadline to enter is December 17 and you must be a member of ACEC Virginia to participate (no firm purchases, only individual contributions allowed).
    2. Purchase a ticket in the Last Chance Raffle sponsored by ACEC National for an opportunity to win a $1000 American Express Gift Card, 38mm Apple Watch, or Marshall Stanmore Bluetooth speaker! Again, you can choose from three options for a chance to win. Just remember, this is a national raffle so there is lots more competition to win. Deadline to enter is December 31 (no firm purchases, only individual contributions allowed).
    3. Visit www.acec.org/advocacy to give an individual contribution today!

Who will win the Pinnacle Award?

The judging is complete and the Engineering Excellence Awards Gala preparations are under way. Our award winners submitted projects that make a difference in our communities and on our infrastructure. Join us at the “Academy Awards” held at the Jefferson Hotel on February 4, 2016.

Looking for networking with transportation agencies?

We have the don't miss event of the year! ACEC Virginia and Metropolitan Washington join forces every year to host the Transportation Reception with key VDOT, DRPT, and Aviation employees. Past participants ranked this a premier event! Join us at The Jefferson Hotel on January 14 from 6 - 8 pm.

    Save the Date!

The Winter Meeting will be held at the Loews Annapolis Hotel, March 10 – 12, 2016. Our educational sessions, Appreciative Inquiry and Strategic Planning, will be led by John Sarvay, Founder and Principal Consultant with Floricane, a leadership and strategic planning consulting firm in Richmond. Come join me for what I expect to be a great meeting.
