  • The Children's Pavilion at the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Wins Pinnacle Award at the 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards

    The 640,000 squarefoot VCU Health Children’s Hospital of Richmond Pavilion is the largest, most advanced outpatient facility dedicated to children in the region and serves as a gateway to the VCU Medical Campus in Downtown Richmond. Dunbar Milby Williams Pittman & Vaughan (DMWPV) provided structural engineering and Schnabel Engineering provided geotechnical and geostructural engineering for this significant project. The two firms collaborated on the design of the structural support and underpinning of the existing adjacent pavilion building, and design of the support of excavation and mat foundation for the new building.

  • ACEC Virginia Celebrates 50 Years

    ACEC Virginia was established in 1967 and incorporated in 1968 to promote the professional and economic welfare of consulting engineers in the Commonwealth. From three conferences per year to over 30 networking events per year, the transition from 1967 to 2017 has been a tremendous one in regards to the opportunities for member firms to network. Over the course of the next year, we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary and want to extend a personal invitation to all our member firms, past award recipients and the Virginia engineering community to join us!

  • Raymond A. DeStephen Elected as a Fellow

    ACEC Virginia Past President and beloved colleague, Raymond A. DeStephen was elected as a Fellow in the American Council of Engineering Companies. The College of Fellows is a distinguished class of engineers who are selected by their peers as deserving recognition for exemplary contributions to the profession. The College of Fellows works to enhance the image of the profession by undertaking activities including recognition programs, outreach through scholarship opportunities, and unique educational opportunities. DeStephen will be recognized at the 2017 Fall Conference Awards Luncheon in Orlando, Florida.

  • 2017 Legislators of the Year

    Virginia Delegate Betsy B. Carr, representing District 69, and Senator Richard Stuart of District 28 were recognized February 2 at the 2017 Engineering Excellence Awards hosted at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia as the 2017 Legislators of the Year.
