  • Daniel J. DeYoung

    Daniel J. DeYoung, 78, born March 24, 1938 in Fort Riley, Kansas, passed on November 11, 2016, at his home in Jacksonville, FL. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Evelyn “Jackie” DeYoung; and two sons. With a civil engineering degree from Virginia Tech, he spent his early professional years in Richmond under the mentoring of Carl Torrance and Andy Dreelin of Torrance, Dreelin, Farthing & Buford.

  • Federal Court Blocks Dept. of Labor “Overtime Rules” From Taking Effect on December 1, 2016

    On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, a federal court in Texas issued a Preliminary Injunction Order that effectively halted implementation of the new "overtime rules" mandated by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2016. The court’s ruling applies nationwide to all employers who are subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”) and who were going to be affected by the new rules.

    At this point, the ACEC/PAC has contributed $26,000 to local Virginia candidates on behalf of our A/E Consulting Engineering community. It is through these ongoing efforts, by all members, that our voice is heard on key issues as it relates to funding bills for many of the infrastructure projects we all hope are part of a more robust investment at the national level.
