2017 Hill Visits
April 13, 2017
ACEC Members Go to the Hill
We’re only two weeks away from ACEC’s Annual Convention and Legislative Summit! There could be some drama on Capitol Hill during the week of the Convention, as Congress returns to work from the Spring recess to consider must-pass legislation to fund federal agencies and programs for the remainder of FY’17. Issues include legislation to ensure that the federal government remains open (the current continuing resolution expires April 30), Congress is expected to pass another short-term bill while they complete work on an omnibus appropriations bill to fund federal agencies and programs through the rest of the fiscal year. One of the issues that could provoke a showdown with House and Senate Democrats is funding for the border wall, which could lead to an impasse over 2017 spending and the possibility of a shutdown. Focus is also turning to the two key issues ACEC’s “Citizen Lobbyists” will advocate for with lawmakers – passage of major infrastructure legislation in 2017 and industry priorities for tax reform. This is the perfect opportunity to make a real impact on the congressional agenda and the issues that matter to our industry. Join us on Tuesday, April 25 as we meet with VA Congressional offices to review these issues.
Mark your calendar today for Tuesday, April 25.
We have requested meetings with Congressional offices but they want to know who is coming from their district. If you are available and willing to take the day to lobby Congress, we encourage you to join us in this endeavor!
