Benefits of Membership

Representing more than 85 firms and their 4,000 employees, ACEC Virginia is the voice of the engineering industry for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Member firms receive business education to help them strengthen their business, networking opportunities to help them grow and a strong advocate in state government.

Professional Development Hours

ACEC Virginia provides members the opportunity to grow professionally and earn required Professional Development Hours. Our members can earn up to 12 Professional Development Hours at the Virginia Engineers Conference and other statewide conferences and roundtables.

Networking

ACEC Virginia hosts events throughout the year that connect engineers, clients, legislators and industry leaders. Our events, from regional roundtables and receptions to the statewide conferences and social events such as the Annual VEPAC Golf Classic, Day at the Races, and more bring engineers face to face with prospective clients, leaders in the Virginia engineering industry, leading experts and peers. Becoming active in ACEC Virginia is a way to ensure that you have maximum exposure to prospective clients and the movers and shakers in the Virginia engineering industry.

Advocacy

Advocating for and protecting the Virginia engineering industry through legislative action is one of the main focuses of ACEC Virginia. ACEC Virginia acts as the state legislative watchdog. Through our legislative liaison, the firm of Williams Mullen, we work with legislators to ensure that Virginia laws and regulations protect the quality of engineering and promote a favorable business environment. One of our recent major successes has been protection of Virginia's Limitation of Liability statutes.

Professional Recognition

We bring together industry leaders and colleagues to recognize engineering excellence and innovation at the annual Engineering Excellence Awards Competition and Gala.  The Engineering Excellence Awards Competition is the largest engineering competition in the state. The winner of the Pinnacle Award has an opportunity to compete nationally. Entering the EEA Competition puts the spotlight on your project and your firm. Click here to enter.

Business Development

Business development opportunities abound in all of ACEC Virginia's activities. ACEC Virginia provides its members opportunities to connect and network with others in the industry at two major conferences, regional roundtables with guest speakers, the Virginia Engineers Conference, social events, among others. Experts discuss topics of interest to engineers who are trying to grow their business and to younger engineers who aspire to run their own firms.

Emerging Leaders Institute

ACEC Virginia's Emerging Leaders Institute helps grow future leaders of member firms. Through sessions on human relations, business development, leading teams, strategic planning, networking and more, the Emerging Leaders Institute prepares future leaders for their leadership roles in the coming years. The Institute gives rising leaders a chance to learn how to grow a successful engineering business. Candidates for the Emerging Leaders Institute are recommended by their firm's leaders.
